Ingredients
- 500g beef mince
- 1 egg
- 40g breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper
- For the sauce:
- 400g tin chopped tomatoes
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Pinch of sugar
- 100ml water
Method
- Mix the mince, egg, breadcrumbs, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Roll into golf-ball sized meatballs (around 16).
- Combine the tinned tomatoes, onion, garlic, tomato puree, basil, sugar, and water in the slow cooker.
- Carefully place the meatballs into the sauce.
- Cook on Low for 5-6 hours or High for 3-4 hours.
- Serve over spaghetti or with crusty bread.
Tips
Don’t stir the meatballs for the first couple of hours — let them firm up first or they may break apart.
