Bangers in Onion Gravy

Sausages swimming in a rich, sweet onion gravy. Serve over a mountain of mash for the ultimate comfort meal.

Ingredients

  • 8 good-quality pork sausages
  • 3 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 300ml beef stock
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp gravy granules
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • Mashed potato, to serve

Method

  1. Brown the sausages briefly in a pan.
  2. Place the sliced onions in the slow cooker.
  3. Sit the sausages on top.
  4. Mix the stock, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, gravy granules, and thyme. Pour over.
  5. Cook on LOW for 6-7 hours. The onions will caramelise beautifully.
  6. Season and serve with creamy mashed potato.

Tips

The longer the onions cook, the sweeter they get. This gravy is genuinely restaurant quality.
