A proper British classic — chunky sausages in a rich, tomatoey bean sauce. Dead easy and kids love it.

Ingredients

  • 8 pork sausages
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 400g tin baked beans
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 red pepper, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. If you have time, brown the sausages in a frying pan for a few minutes — this adds colour and flavour.
  2. Place all ingredients in the slow cooker and stir gently.
  3. Cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours.
  4. Serve with mashed potato, crusty bread, or jacket potatoes.

Tips

Use good-quality sausages with a high meat content — they hold together much better. Richmond or your butcher’s own are great.
